In the heart of Šumadija, in the village of Vinča, where the vines have been thriving since the Ancient times, Aleksandrović Winery proudly celebrated St. Trifun – the patron Saint of vinegrowers and winemakers. For generations, our family has honored St. Trifun on February 14th, keeping alive the tradition of our ancestors.
With a prayer and the ritual of pruning the vines, we symbolically began the new winemaking year, hoping that our vineyards will bring a rich harvest and wines of exceptional quality.
“The vines are always nourished with last year’s best wine to ensure a better and more abundant harvest in the coming season. The foundation of exceptional wine is not found in the cellar, but right here, in the vineyard. We pray to St. Trifun to watch over our vineyards and ensure the heavens are kind, for in this craft, everything depends on him. Great wine is the result of dedication and knowledge, but it is made in the vineyard. As winemakers, we rely on the whims of nature, which, in the end, always leaves its unmistakable mark,” said Božidar Aleksandrović, owner of the winery and fourth-generation vinegrower in the Aleksandrović family.
Happy St. Trifun slava day to all vinegrowes, winemakers and winelovers!
