When Two Wine Giants Come Together

Dear friends and wine lovers,

On May 28, an event took place where the terroirs of Šumadija and Goriška Brda came together, along with tradition, the art of winemaking, and exceptional wine labels.

Through a carefully selected pairing of wines and food, guests enjoyed a unique tasting experience presented by Marjan Simčič, Božidar Aleksandrović, and Vladan Nikolić.

“People think that terroir is only about soil and climate, but there are also people, knowledge, effort, and tradition. Every vintage has its own value, all that accumulated experience, every micro-location, every variety—an entire book could be written about each of them individually.

I don’t know if I’m the most qualified to say this, but I have never tasted a better Pinot Noir in Serbia than this one from Aleksandrović.” – Marjan Simčič

A special moment of the evening was also the reflection on Aberdar wine by Vladan Nikolić, who highlighted its journey of development and the ambition behind the project:

“Aberdar is our attempt to become Marjan Simčič one day. It is a step forward for us, and let me make it clear right away—we do not make our living from this wine. It is a small production of only 3,000 bottles.”

As a summary of this gathering with Marjan Simčič, it may best be described by a statement from the host, Božidar Aleksandrović:

“What we have in common is that you must live with that plant, with the vine. You must follow it the way a mother follows her child, and you will always know what it needs.”

An evening that brought together two regions, two philosophies, and one shared passion – wine.
