Šumadija among the TOP 5 wine regions of the future

In the last 10 years great succes of wines from Šumadija draw attention to this wine region. Quality of the wine and its fruitness and freshness brough something new and egzotic to the world of wine. In his interview for, Tom Stevenson, one of the leading experts in the world of wine, included Šumadija and Oplenac wine region, to the list of top 5 world regions of the future in terms of high quality wine production. Steveson wrote 23 books during his career, which were published from 50 different publishers around the world and translated to 25 different languages. His specialty is world of sparkling wines, and in his interview he did not hide his positive surprise for the first Serbian sparkling wine – Trijumf Chardonnay.

Winery Aleksandrović entered the world of sparkling wines in 2008, when no one believed that sparkling wines from Šumadija have any the potential to parry champagnes from reputable champagne houses from France. Two men who are standing behind the first Serbian sparkling wine – Trijumf Chardonnay, Pierre-Yves Bourneuras and Vladan Nikolić, have from the very beginning belived that terroir of Šumadija can give an absolute recognition to Serbian sparkling wines. The first Serbian sparkling wine was made then, as the juncture of French traditional recipe and the terroar from Šumadija.

Two years in a row, at The Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships held in London, our sparkling wines Trijumf Noir and Trijumf Chardonnay won gold medals. Not only we were awarded gold medals, but also national trophy and the award for the very best sparkling wine in Southeastern Europe for Trijumf Chardonnay 2008. This wine is the very first Serbian wine produced using the traditional method and as such this represents a great success for Aleksandrović Winery, for the region of Šumadija and for Serbia!

This competition represents a single most respected and recognised championship for champagnes and sparkling wines from all across the world. The fact that Tom Stevenson, a greatest expert in this field, tastes and assesses each and every single wine gives even greater significance to this competition.
